The Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology at The University of Hong Kong was established in 1961. It has since grown and matured to a well-staffed and equipped organization with a world-wide reputation in clinical service, teaching, and research. As a part of the Faculty of Medicine, it provides undergraduate teaching for medical students, post-graduate courses in medical sciences and carries out research in clinical and basic science related to orthopaedics. As a part of the Hospital Authority, the department serves a major portion of the population of Hong Kong and provides post-graduate speciality training for surgeons.
